PXI Area

GT4210 PXI Area

The PXI area is the section in which the measuring and switching modules are connected to the backplane. All modules based on PCI, PXI or PXIe can be integrated. A total of 20 slots are available, which can be assigned as follows:

  • 4x R&S CAN
  • 12x cPCI / PXI / R&S CAN
  • 2x PXIe
  • 2x cPCI PlusIO

The R&S and VXTS modules have direct access to the analogue measurement and control bus. If you would like to use other third-party modules in addition, these signals can also be routed to the analogue bus if required.

The cPCI PlusIO slots for the integrated high performance controller are located in the middle segment.

Extension Area

In the extension area there are three slots for the exchangeable cartridges. The System Supply Cartridge (SSC) is always integrated in the middle slot. The SSC serves as a power supply for the GT4210 and also offers further functionalities such as:

  • 16 digital IOs for adapter control
  • 3 potential-free voltages for adapter supply

Individually configured cartridges can be installed on the left and right, providing additional functions such as

  • Vacuum/pneumatic
  • Boundary Scan
  • Programming devices
  • CAN modules
  • Loads
  • and much more!

Rear IO Area

In the rear area there are:

  • Interfaces for the monitor (HDMI or display port), USB and LAN
  • Rear IO module
  • Mains plug connection
  • Vacuum/compressed air connection, if needed
  • Feed-throughs (e.g. high-voltage cables)

Tightening mechanism

For direct and safe contacting of test adapters, we also offer the GT4210 with a tightening mechanism. This has the advantage that you can avoid long cabling and thus achieve the best signal transmission.

Analogue measurement and control bus

In addition to the PXI(e) backplane, the GT4210 has an analogue measurement and control bus. All measurement and switching modules from VX Test Solutions and Rohde & Schwarz that can be integrated into the GT4210 have access to the analogue bus. Thanks to the analogue bus, flexible interconnection of the individual measuring and switching modules is possible.

The analogue bus provides 8 lines, which also makes 6-wire measurement possible. In addition, the analogue bus has two shielded pairs of wires. Our software has an intelligence that prevents double assignment of a channel.

PXI(e) modules from market competitors can also be routed to the analogue bus. For this purpose, we offer you the development of corresponding pre-connection modules or also wiring concepts that lead the signals of the PXI module via the SM160 switching matrix card to the analogue bus.
